Scary Retelling of The Scarlet Letter Review by Suzum
Overall I listened to this book while the Personhood Amendment was being debated in Mississippi and let me tell you it added a whole other dimension to a book that is plenty scary all by itself. In the future women who have abortions are injected with a virus which turns them red. Known as Chromes they are rejected in an America which has become an ultra conservative nightmare. This is futuristic fiction but the world in which it occurs is just a frightening tick different than the present. A great book for discussion. The reader, Heather Corrigan, is one of my favorites and she does her usual great job. (Posted on 11/10/11)
