Barbara Caruso does a beautiful job interpreting Lily Tuck's new work. This beautiful book is exactly right for audio. Nina sits next to the body of Phillip, her husband of 40 so years, who has gone upstairs to rest then suffers a fatal heart attack. During this last night together Nina's mind wanders through the events of their marriage. The intimacy of this scene is heartbreaking but this is not a dark tale. Tuck links the years through a stream of consciousness that makes sense when given Caruso's perfect inflection. I can't imagine a better way to experience this book.
